About Me

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to get to know me.

My dream job was to be a Clinical Psychologist. Since age 13, I knew that was what I was going to be. Working with clients being of service, listening and helping people gain a new perspective and understanding of themselves, their lives and who they wanted to be. In high school, I was selected to be in a new program as a Peer Counselor.  I trained with students from schools all around my area and after completion, I became president of the Peer Counseling association at my school, and then later became a facilitator to new students entering the program. And so my dream came true, In University I faithfully studied Psychology and graduated with a BS but as most young college graduates my future wasn’t clear. Balancing a full-time job at a high tech company as a manager, I found myself going through the day to day routine leaving my dream behind entirely. Until one day, I decided to listen to my inner voice and ask the question; Is this the life I envisioned for myself? Am I truly using my gifts? Am I fulfilled? Am I happy? And so I went on a journey to find myself.

It was clear to me that the job I was doing wasn’t what I needed to do. So I left. Not knowing what I wanted to do exactly but knowing that the answers would get clearer as time went on. A few things were true, I wanted to be of service to others, to help change lives to support and foster positive change in those around me. In 2008 I started my own business as a Professional Organizer. This was my chance to work with people one on one. To help them clear the clutter from their homes, their minds and their lives. And it worked! I had clients, mostly word of mouth. I worked with a variety of people from business professionals looking to streamline processes in their business to busy moms, artistic creatives, retired teachers and some people who had emotional attachments to the stuff they kept and needed to release themselves from it so they to can live the life they wanted. I organized business and homes and even did some event planning in the process. It was great! Yet I felt a bit lonely. Going from managing 80 employees in a fast pace environment to working one on one, and running my own show left me a little disconnected. And then out of the blue in 2010, I found Hoop Dance. Being a closet dancer all my life, dreaming of being a professional dancer. Here was my chance. I began taking classes, practicing every day and wanting more. Soon after, I found a local community and joined. It was nice being with others that shared a common interest. Within 6 months my second business had emerged, TrinityStarr. Where I used my creative and artistic talents to handcraft hula hoops of all kinds for all levels and taught classes in my local community. This propelled me forward into a new journey of fitness and fun. Allowing me to express myself not only in the form of dance or in the creation of a product but as a teacher and a leader. Something I didn’t realize I was gifted in and loved very much. About 2 years in, I was approached by the founder of Hoopcamp, a large annual hoop gathering retreat that I had the pleasure of attending two years in a row. She was in need of some assistance in helping organize hoopcamp the following year and thought I might be a good fit. Needless to say, a relationship blossomed and four hoopcamp’s later we worked closely to produce the event. During this time TrinityStarr was growing too. My husband and I began expanding our hoop line, innovating and becoming more involved with hoop events. Classes were growing, a community was forming and life was good. Yet, like all things, nothing stay’s the same. It's not supposed too. And if you listen to the voice of intuition deep down inside it will carry you to new places.

How did you go from Hula Hoops to being a Health Coach?

I was lucky to have been raised in a household where good nutrition and eating well was a priority. Home cooking was a common part of my upbringing and so I had some skill in the kitchen. Like a lot of young adults as we spread our wings and come into our own life sometimes we get derailed, sidetracked misguided or just plain oblivious. In my early 30’s, I developed some digestive disturbances. I found that certain foods I use to love didn’t agree with me. I had constant intestinal pain, bloating, bouts of diarrhea and constipation, brain fog. I felt tired all the time and just plain felt bad. Like most people, I turned to Dr. Google for answers and began researching. And as most things in life one discovery lead to another and another….the more I learned about food, nutrition and our body the more fascinated I became and the more I wanted to know. I eliminated processed foods and for the most part, anything packaged. I learned how to read labels and identify harmful chemicals and food additives. I began eating fresh organic and whole foods. And I started cooking 90% of my meals. During this time I also eliminated Gluten from my diet and cut down dramatically on dairy, although I still indulge in the occasional cheese, as a treat ;) Looking back at my years growing up I remembered never liking bread, pasta or baked goods. Now realizing that it was my bodies innate wisdom telling me that something wasn’t right. Now concluding that I am indeed Gluten sensitive and eliminating it from my diet entirely had a whole catalyst for positive results. I experienced a world of difference, including losing 10 pounds of inflammatory weight. All my previous digestive issues went away, my joint pain which I otherwise mistook as something I “just had” and guess “I had to live with” was gone. I slept better, had more energy and started thinking clearer. It was evident to me that “food” was a lot more than just something you have to feel satiated or full, it was a powerful mechanism that serves a purpose and not just for survival but for vitality when knowing how to make the right choices. It’s life-giving and life fueling. And so my journey began. And my new found passion in the world of nutrition, health, and wellness was here to stay.

In 2015, I enrolled at the Academy of Culinary Nutrition so I could get my certification as a Culinary Nutrition Expert. This program was exactly what I needed and took my already existing knowledge to a whole new level. At ACN I learned how to use foods for their therapeutic properties, how to cook and prepare foods, develop recipes, how to create my own workshops and how to advise people on what to eat, especially those who may have specific conditions preventing them from living fully and healthfully. With my new found knowledge and as a graduate of ACN, I was empowered and excited to begin my new journey of working with clients to help improve their lives in terms of nutrition and health. Yet, I realized I wanted to do more, know more.  Thinking about a person as a whole system, not just the pieces was something that really stuck with me. Everything is interrelated and connected and nutrition and food was just one part of the puzzle.

In 2016, I found this wonderful program at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Where their primary focus is to train you to become an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. Designed in such a way that not only are you learning over 100 dietary theories but also understanding the inner workings of living a full well-balanced life. Being able to coach in areas of relationships, spirituality, education, career, business development, finances, physical fitness, and of course nutrition. For me, being able to bridge these aspects together and bring balance to one's self and life is a necessary key to total wellness. So we can live happy and complete, conscious, creative, loving and passionate in our full potential. And in return contribute to the well being of others and to the planet. To look and feel great, to be of service and live in our highest power. In September 2017 I graduated from IIN, feeling more empowered and grateful than I ever have. It is my privilege and honor to share with you the wisdom and knowledge I have been bestowed. Let’s take this journey together to create the best life possible for you and our future generations.
